Sales Engineer

We are hiring for a Sales Engineer serves as a technical liaison between Sales, R&D, Manufacturing teams, and customers, focusing on Textile & Plastic (T&P) products for our client in Macon, GA. This role combines engineering expertise, manufacturing knowledge, and sales acumen to drive business development, support product innovation, resolve customer concerns, and deliver tailored solutions across multiple industries including Medical, Hygiene, Safety, and others.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive understanding of T&P products, manufacturing processes, testing methods, and quality control systems.
  • Learn and apply applicable industry regulations, standards, and test methods to serve as a product and industry expert.
  • Deliver product demonstrations, technical presentations, and consultative sales support (virtually and in-person), independently or in partnership with the Sales team.
  • Build relationships with technical and product decision-makers, understand customer challenges, and propose customized solutions.
  • Collaborate with R&D and engineering teams to influence product design based on customer feedback and market trends.
  • Partner with Sales and Marketing to penetrate target markets, secure orders, and achieve or exceed sales objectives.
  • Maintain traceability of sales activities, manage change documentation, and provide leadership updates.
  • Develop in-depth knowledge of competitor fastening suppliers and their product offerings.
  • Conduct comparative product testing for benchmarking and customer-specific projects.
  • Visit customer facilities to perform hands-on testing and support line trials to ensure product compatibility with customer processes and industry standards.
  • Coordinate with affiliated companies and third-party vendors for product development, research, testing, quality support, and issue resolution.
  • Participate in customer meetings to address quality concerns and provide technical support, collaborating with Manufacturing and Quality teams to ensure resolution and customer satisfaction.
  • Conduct internal product training seminars to educate employees on products, processes, and capabilities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Materials Science, or a related technical field.
  • 3–5 years of experience in technical sales, applications engineering, or product development.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally, including Mexico, Central America, and South America.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with CRM platforms (e.g., Salesforce).
  • Bilingual proficiency (Spanish preferred).
  • Project management experience.

Organizational Fit

This role is critical for succession planning in anticipation of a senior-level retirement. The selected candidate will receive structured training to preserve and advance technical expertise within the fastening business. Based in Macon, the individual will spend an initial onboarding period embedded with Manufacturing and R&D teams to gain hands-on knowledge of products, processes, quality systems, and testing requirements.
