We are hiring for a Medical Laboratory Technician in Augusta, Maine. In this position you will be running test on fluid and tissue samples to assist with diagnose for Physicians patients.

Position Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly skilled Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) to join our laboratory team. The MLS will perform complex laboratory testing and analysis on patient specimens to assist physicians and healthcare providers in the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical expertise, excellent problem-solving skills, and a commitment to quality patient care.
Essential Responsibilities
Laboratory Testing & Analysis
- Perform routine and complex laboratory testing in areas including:
- Chemistry
- Hematology
- Coagulation
- Immunology
- Microbiology
- Urinalysis
- Blood Bank/Transfusion Services
- Analyze and interpret laboratory results for accuracy and validity.
- Identify abnormal results and follow established procedures for verification and reporting.
- Operate, calibrate, troubleshoot, and maintain laboratory instrumentation and equipment.
Quality Assurance & Compliance
- Adhere to laboratory quality control and quality assurance protocols.
- Perform and document quality control procedures and corrective actions as required.
- Ensure compliance with CLIA, CAP, Joint Commission, OSHA, and other applicable regulatory standards.
- Participate in proficiency testing and quality improvement initiatives.
Specimen Processing
- Receive, process, and prepare patient specimens for testing.
- Verify specimen integrity and ensure proper handling procedures are followed.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation related to testing and specimen processing.
Collaboration & Communication
- Communicate critical laboratory results to healthcare providers according to established protocols.
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, laboratory staff, and other healthcare professionals.
- Assist with training and mentoring laboratory personnel and students as needed.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, or related scientific field.
- MLS, MT, or CLS certification through ASCP or equivalent certifying agency.
- 3+ years needed
- Strong knowledge of laboratory procedures, instrumentation, and quality standards.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Preferred
- Previous experience in a hospital, reference laboratory, or clinical laboratory setting.
- Experience working in Blood Bank, Microbiology, or specialized laboratory departments.
- Familiarity with Laboratory Information Systems (LIS).
