We are looking for a skilled and compassionate Speech Therapist (Speech-Language Pathologist) to join our clients' healthcare team. The Speech Therapist will be responsible for assessing, diagnosing, and treating speech, language, communication, and swallowing disorders in patients of all ages. The ideal candidate will have expertise in speech therapy techniques, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to helping patients improve their ability to communicate effectively and safely.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assessment and Diagnosis: Evaluate and diagnose speech, language, voice, fluency, and swallowing disorders through assessments, interviews, and observations.
  • Treatment Planning: Develop and implement individualized treatment plans to address patients' communication and swallowing needs, focusing on improving speech clarity, language comprehension, and swallowing abilities.
  • Therapeutic Interventions: Provide speech therapy services through exercises, techniques, and activities tailored to each patient’s goals, whether for articulation, language development, social communication, or cognitive-communication skills.
  • Swallowing Therapy: Treat patients with swallowing disorders (dysphagia) by recommending appropriate exercises and dietary modifications to reduce the risk of choking and aspiration.
  • Patient Education: Educate patients and their families on communication strategies, speech exercises, and lifestyle modifications that can improve speech and swallowing function.
  • Progress Monitoring: Track patient progress, adjust treatment plans as needed, and provide reports to other healthcare professionals or caregivers.
  • Collaboration: Work with other healthcare professionals (e.g., occupational therapists, physical therapists, physicians) to coordinate patient care and provide holistic support.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate patient records, including treatment plans, progress reports, and discharge summaries, in compliance with healthcare regulations.
  • Supportive Environment: Provide emotional support to patients and their families, helping them manage the challenges of communication and swallowing disorders.

Required Qualifications:

  • Education: Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program.
  • Licensing/Certification: Current licensure as a Speech-Language Pathologist in [state/country], or eligibility to obtain licensure.
  • Experience:Proven experience in speech therapy, including working with various patient populations (e.g., children, adults, geriatrics).
  • Experience treating speech disorders (e.g., stuttering, articulation) and language disorders (e.g., aphasia, language delays).
  • Skills:Strong knowledge of speech and language development, anatomy, and physiology.
  • Expertise in assessing and treating a variety of speech, language, and swallowing disorders.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work with patients of all ages and diverse backgrounds.
  • Ability to educate patients and families on speech therapy techniques and strategies.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with a specific patient population, such as pediatrics, geriatrics, or neurological conditions (e.g., stroke, Parkinson’s disease).
  • Certification in specific therapies (e.g., Accent Modification, Feeding and Swallowing Therapy, Autism Spectrum Disorders).
  • CPR and First Aid certification.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to assist patients during therapy sessions, including providing physical support for speech and swallowing exercises.
  • Ability to lift and assist patients as necessary, especially in a rehabilitation setting.
  • Ability to perform therapy techniques and activities in a seated, standing, or walking position as appropriate.

Work Environment:

  • Work in a healthcare setting, such as a hospital, rehabilitation center, outpatient clinic, or school.
  • May involve working with patients who have a variety of conditions, including neurological, developmental, or traumatic injuries affecting communication and swallowing.
